Who should get the flu shot?
The flu shot is recommended for almost everyone who is 6 months of age and older. Getting the flu shot is your best defence against getting the flu. While the flu is often mild for healthy individuals, it can cause serious complications and death in older adults, young children and those who are immunocompromised. It is important to get the flu shot even if you are healthy as you will be less likely to spread the virus to high-risk people.
Looking for a local flu shot clinic?
The flu shot is now available free of cost to all Ontarians six months of age and older through primary care providers and local pharmacies. If you do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner, call 2-1-1 or click on the buttons below to book an appointment at a participating pharmacy.
We will continue to update this page as information is released from the Ministry of Health. Please continue to check back for the most up to date information.
Children under 6 months of age require a second vaccine 4 weeks after the first. Please call your primary care provider closer to that date to book a second appointment.
Please note: The flu shot will not protect against COVID-19, but it will help reduce your risk of getting the flu and COVID-19 at the same time. Having both illnesses at the same time could put you at a higher risk for severe illness. It is safe and convenient to receive the flu shot and the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time. Ask your health care provider or pharmacist if they can administer both vaccines at your appointment.
